How is the Process of Sharia-Based Strategic Management Decision Making?

Ananta Budhi Danurdara

Abstract

This research analyses the dynamics of sharia-based strategic management decision-making processes using a case study approach to sharia hospitality in Indonesia. This research uses selecting cases with polar-type samples to examine the in-depth sharia-based strategic management decision-making processes in sharia hotels. The polar type representatives in this research sample are sharia hotels with the claim as the oldest sharia hotel in Indonesia, Sofyan Syariah Hotel in Jakarta, and the claim as the largest sharia hotel in Indonesia, Syariah Hotel Solo in Sukoharjo. The methodology used in this research is the Eisenhardt case study with an inductive approach that evaluates the findings based on evidence found in the field and data analysis techniques using the methodology. The results of this study are still in line with the initial framework of the decision model research strategy. However, there are some basic additional suggestions related to sharia provisions that should be a guide in making sharia-based strategic management decisions in sharia hospitality in Indonesia. Strategic management decision-making in this study limits issues regarding profitability, contribution to employees, contribution to the environment (tax, charity, CSR or corporate social responsibility, useful product), and survival (avoiding bankruptcy). Sofyan Syariah Hotel Jakarta has implemented sharia-based although there are several weaknesses related to its implementation in the field, while in Syariah Hotel Solo there is no sharia-based standard and still refers to conventional hotel rules, so it does not yet reflect sharia-based strategic management decision-making. .

Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis of Student Reviews using Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) in Indonesian Language

Ahmad Jazuli, Widowati, Retno Kusumaningrum

Abstract

Evaluation of the learning process involves students who are given free and private space to convey criticism, suggestions, and experiences that are felt through online reviews. Generally, sentiment analysis is used to analyze review text, but it can only be used to analyze sentences. Therefore, this research develops aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA) to produce detailed information and improve the evaluation of the learning process by analyzing student reviews. There are two tasks in ABSA: aspect extraction and sentiment classification. ABSA still has weaknesses with inconsistencies in aspect detection and classification sentiment. The BERT method is proposed to cover the existing weaknesses. The IndoBERT pre-trained model is used because it is the best natural language processing (NLP) model for the Indonesian language now. The BERT method and the IndoBERT pre-trained model were chosen because they have been proven to work well for analysis in the text data domain and are suitable for developing ABSA. In addition, fine-tuning by perfecting the hyper-parameters is done to get the best results. We used 10,000 online reviews of students from universities in Indonesia. The research processes included data labeling, preprocessing, splitting, developing models, and evaluating model performance. The experimental results obtained the aspect extraction model with accuracy = 0,890 and F1-Score = 0,897 and the sentiment classification model with accuracy = 0,979 and F1- Score = 0,974. The experimental results show that the model we developed can be superior to previous state-of-the-art models in the Indonesian language domain.. The BERT method and IndoBERT pre-trained model can improve ABSA performance. The results of this research can be used to improve the learning process based on input from students in the form of online reviews.

Desak Made Dwi Utami Putra,  I Gusti Putu Suharta, I Made Tegeh, I Gde Wawan Sudatha

Abstract

In the Database course there are many terms that must be understood to develop an entity relationship diagram model. However, the basic concepts of databases are not owned by all students causing the understanding of database terms are not mastered well. Moreover, the database courses still apply conventional learning strategies which tend to focus more on the lecturer, while students are only passive listeners. Limited access and flexibility of time and place in the teaching and learning process makes it difficult for students to deepen their understanding of material. Hence, Students need learning media that can support their understanding of database concepts. This study focuses on analyzing, designing, developing, and evaluating an interactive e-book based on the predict-observe-explain method with cognitive load theory to increase the students’ learning outcomes. This study was based on Research and Development (RnD) with the PLOMP design research model consisting of initial studies (Preliminary Research), development (development or prototyping phase) and summative evaluation (assessment phase). The E-module development met the expected validity criteria In terms of content and construction, based on the initial trial and field trials, the E-module is proven to be effective in student learning outcomes and several improvements were made based on the experts and students suggestions and input from prototype I to the final product that is Prototype IV. This study shows that E-module increases their curiosity to try further all the menus displayed. The addition of animated videos is an additional attraction for students so that they can provide a more dynamic learning experience with cognitive load theory. The POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) stages used in each module make students feel more directly involved in the learning process provided. Overall, this research has succeeded in developing a quality, valid, practical, and effective database E-module with Predict, Observe, Explain (POE) oriented integrated with cognitive load theory. Hence, the E-modules are ready to be used on a larger scale and used by people who need them  .
